How does Fake Patch Report Work?

There are two levels of reports; the Fake Patch Report and the Suspicious Patch Report.

Fake Patch Report

When a user submits a report that contains evidence sufficient to prove that a card is a fake patch card, after an initial quality control review by FakePatchReport.com it will be approved and made part of the Fake Patch Report. The following types of evidence qualify as sufficient:

1. Before and after images of the same card. Serial numbers and/or autographs must be present for verification as they are strong indicators that we are comparing identical cards.

2. Information that the patch itself is not the same patch that the pro sports team or the card manufacturer used, for example: jersey patch images from professional uniforms or information from the card manufacturer.

Anyone can go into a store, buy a jersey or even just a logo patch, cut it up and make a fake patch card. But many times those patches are not the same in terms of color, detail, or size.

3. Manufacturer verification that the card is not the same as when it left their facility.

If the evidence is not sufficient, FakePatchReport.com will transfer the report to the Suspicious Patch Report.

Suspicious Patch Report

A Suspicious Patch Report is one where the evidence available is not sufficient to prove that a patch is fake. For example, the user may not possess “before and after” images or the card may not contain a serial number or an autograph (the most reliable methods of determining a patch’s authenticity). However, the card appears to be “too good to be true” or there may be damage to the patch window.

When a Suspicious Patch Report is submitted, it will be reviewed by FakePatchReport.com to ensure its credibility. FakePatchReport.com will then create a thread in the Fake Patch Cards forum at HobbyInsider.net. Once a new report is posted here, we rely on fellow hobbyists to help out and provide any evidence and relevant information that can be used to determine if the patch is fake. If a Suspicious Patch Report card is proven to be a fake patch card, the report will move to the Fake Patch Report.

How You Can Help

The most important part of ensuring the value of FakePatchReport.com to the hobby is the hobby itself - the users who submit the Reports. These users are people who care about the hobby and spend countless hours tracking various cards, maintaining image logs, and monitoring the market for offerings of fake patch cards.

We are also counting on the hobby to help out with the suspicious patch report investigations at Hobbyinsider.net. With the vast amount of cards currently on the market not to mention those yet to be released, everyone will have different knowledge about different cards, sets and memorabilia. So please visit our site regularly to see how many active suspicious patch card reports exist, click over to HobbyInsider.net, join up there, and see if you have any information that can help our mission.
